Understand the situation
There is no universal number of days that fits every shipment. Share the expected arrival, container details and destination as soon as they are known. Early planning helps identify equipment, warehouse and communication requirements without treating an estimate as a fixed commitment.
Plan the handoff
As arrival approaches, ask your agent for the current release and terminal position. Agree with the transport coordinator when the provisional plan becomes a confirmed collection. Inform your warehouse of a delivery window rather than an unsupported exact hour.
Confirm the next step
For several containers, consider how many the receiving site can unload in succession. Discuss staggered arrivals, equipment availability and return arrangements. Tell the coordinator promptly if an arrival date moves so that resources can be replanned.
Before you book
- Share known details early
- Distinguish provisional and confirmed dates
- Check warehouse capacity
- Update the plan when release changes
