Understand the situation

First, distinguish vessel arrival from container availability. Ask your shipping agent or forwarder whether the container has been discharged, which terminal holds it and whether anything still prevents collection. An estimated arrival date is not a confirmed pickup appointment.

Plan the handoff

Keep the container number, shipping reference and destination contact together. Ask your customs representative about the clearance position and your shipping line about release and return instructions. The transport coordinator needs the collection position, not just the vessel name.

Confirm the next step

Once the collection arrangements are confirmed, agree the delivery window with your warehouse. Have the unloading team ready and nominate someone who can answer the driver. If release changes, inform the transport coordinator before dispatch rather than letting a truck wait without instructions.

Before you book

  • Confirm terminal and availability
  • Check outstanding release steps with the responsible agent
  • Share the warehouse address and receiving hours
  • Agree unloading and empty-return arrangements
